Jul 21, 2017 · Test the hose with your finger until the pump stops to check for leaks. If the pump stops after placing your finger on the end of the hose, and at the end of the pipe assembly, then the leak is inside the brake booster system, which will need to be replaced. Don't replace the hose if it could be the booster, because that's 75 you won't get back.

Jul 23, 2015 · Insert the vacuum assist boost pump. It's an electric or mechanically-driven pump that creates vacuum for the power brakes. In the case of the Ford F-150 EcoBoost, from 2011 to 2012, that pump was electric, and housed behind the driver's side headlamp.
The vacuum brake booster is located between the brake master cylinder and the firewall. Replacing the booster involves removing the brake master cylinder, so if you suspect that the brake master isn't up to par, this is also a good time to replace that as well.
Mar 26, 2012 · If they're speaking of the brake booster vacuum pump, then this estimate is ridiculously high. The part itself is 258 and the labor to replace it is no more than is 2.0 hours. Not sure that a general repair shop can do the job properly, but a good independent VW/Euro shop certainly can.

Jan 09, 2019 · Step 3 – Remove the Vacuum Pump. Place the stretch belt removal tool on the vacuum pump pulley. Using the 1/2-in drive 24-in breaker bar, 24mm socket and 5-in extension, turn the crank pulley until the belt slips off the vacuum pump pulley. Follow the vacuum line from the brake booster to the vacuum pump.
